One hundred million dollars. Now that’s a real fistful of money.
That’s what the Racine Unified School District School Board is proposing for referendum(s) felt necessary to improve our failing school system.
The battle cry is “Give us the money,” and we will fix the problems with ideas like North Star, new schools, smaller class sizes, qualified teachers and computer models.
What has not been mentioned is that the district has not provided a business plan, which clearly quantifies the expected needs, solutions and cost.
Marching forward with ideas under a banner of “It’s for the children” is not enough.
Try taking that to a bank of approval and hearing, “Oh yes, the check is in the mail.”
The taxpayers all want to see RUSD improved, but first quantify a business plan before we show you the money.
